Koko Black Cranberry, Macadamia & Cherry – A Premium Spin on Fruit & Nut

Koko Black Cranberry, Macadamia & Cherry milk chocolate bar in packaging on a dark marble background.

The packaging is unmistakably Koko Black: bold diagonal stripes framing a cut-out window that reveals the bar inside. Generous macadamias and glossy fruits sit visibly against smooth milk chocolate, setting the expectation of indulgence with a polished finish.

Appearance

Full Koko Black Cranberry, Macadamia & Cherry milk chocolate bar with visible nuts and fruits on a dark marble background.

The bar has a clean gloss, with macadamias, cherries, and cranberries embedded across the surface. Breaks are uneven thanks to the inclusions, giving it a rustic look despite the elegant packaging.

Aroma

Roasted nuttiness is the first thing to rise from the bar, giving a warm, savoury edge. Get closer, and the chocolate’s creamy sweetness comes through, soft and dairy-led. Fruit notes are barely present on the nose — more implied by the inclusions than expressed in the aroma.

Taste & Texture

Close-up of Koko Black Cranberry, Macadamia & Cherry chocolate with visible fruit and nut inclusions.

The chocolate is sweet, malty, and melts easily on the tongue. Macadamias add a satisfying crunch while still carrying their buttery softness. Cherries and cranberries provide chewy bursts of tartness and sweetness, but only when you hit them directly. Rather than a single integrated flavour, it feels like distinct elements layered together — smooth chocolate, nut crunch, fruit lift — all arriving in turn.

Aftertaste & Finish

The milk chocolate lingers with a clean, malty sweetness. Fruit notes don’t carry through unless you catch a piece in the bite, so the finish is more about the chocolate base than a unified blend.

ATC Verdict: Is It Worth the Splurge?

There’s no denying this is a well-made bar. The chocolate is smooth and malty, the macadamias are buttery with a good crunch, and the fruit adds brightness where it lands. It’s enjoyable and polished — but the flavours never fully come together, and at this price you may expect more harmony or depth.

It’s a nice treat, especially for gifting, but whether it’s worth the spend will depend on how much you value presentation over complexity.

Pleasant and premium, but not entirely persuasive.

Editor’s Note

This was our first experience with Koko Black. We picked it up in Adelaide city while shopping, curious to see what all the talk around the brand was about.
