Koko Black Cranberry, Macadamia & Cherry: A Premium Spin on Fruit & Nut
Koko Black’s Cranberry, Macadamia & Cherry bar leans into a familiar fruit and nut format, but positions it as a more premium, gift-ready experience. We wanted to see whether that polish translates into something more than a well-presented classic.

Appearance
The surface carries a clean gloss, with macadamias, cherries, and cranberries embedded throughout. Breaks are uneven due to the inclusions, giving it a slightly rustic feel that contrasts with the more refined packaging.
Aroma
Roasted nuttiness comes through first, bringing a warm, slightly savoury edge. Closer in, a creamy sweetness follows, soft and dairy-led. The fruit is quiet on the nose, more suggested by the inclusions than clearly expressed.
Taste & Texture
It opens sweet and lightly malty, melting quickly across the palate. The macadamias bring crunch, but still carry their soft, buttery give. Cherries and cranberries come through as chewy bursts, shifting between tart and sweet depending on the bite.
Rather than forming a single, integrated profile, each element arrives in turn. Smooth chocolate, nut texture, and fruit lift all take their moment. It’s enjoyable, but you remain aware of the parts rather than a fully resolved whole.
Aftertaste & Finish
A gentle, malty sweetness lingers, clean and uncomplicated. The fruit doesn’t carry through consistently, so the finish leans back toward the chocolate base rather than a unified flavour.
ATC Verdict: Is It Worth the Splurge?
It doesn’t quite earn the splurge on flavour alone, unless presentation carries more weight than integration.
There’s no denying this is a well-made bar. The chocolate is smooth and malty, the macadamias are buttery with a satisfying bite, and the fruit adds brightness where it lands. It’s polished and easy to enjoy, but the flavours never fully come together, and at this price you may expect more cohesion or depth.
It works well as a gift and feels considered in its presentation, but as a tasting experience, it sits closer to a refined version of something familiar than a standout in its own right.
Pleasant and premium, but not entirely persuasive.
Editor’s Note
This was our first experience with Koko Black. We were curious to see how it would hold up against other premium chocolate bars we’ve tried.
