Jasper + Myrtle Macadamia & Lemon Myrtle Milk Chocolate Review: Thoughtful, If Reserved
Macadamia and lemon myrtle is an unmistakably Australian pairing, but one that can easily tip into novelty if handled too loudly. As the brand’s best-selling bar, it carries expectation. Built on a 45% milk chocolate base, it aims for richness and aroma over sharp contrast.
Subtlety over spectacle was the brief, and that is exactly what it delivers.

Appearance
The bar presents as a classic milk chocolate brown, neither pale nor dark, with a matte-to-satin finish instead of high gloss. The embossed botanical mould signals flavour intent without tipping into gimmickry. Macadamia pieces are mostly hidden, giving it a smooth, composed look.
Aroma
The base leads on first impression, rich and rounded. Lemon myrtle sits quietly, reading more herbal than citrus, closer to lemongrass than bright lemon juice. The overall effect is aromatic and gentle, not acidic. Nothing competes for attention.
Taste & Texture
It softens quickly and melts cleanly, settling into a smooth texture with a faintly waxy edge instead of overt creaminess. Macadamia arrives first, adding body and quiet richness before the cocoa character comes forward. The profile feels darker and more serious than many sweet-leaning milk bars, avoiding excess sugar.
The myrtle appears gradually, more suggestion than statement, lifting the flavour without tipping into sharpness. Chewing brings everything into alignment. Nut, cocoa and aromatic lift sit together comfortably. The macadamia adds texture but does not express a pronounced roasted character. Everything feels intentional and deliberately understated.
Aftertaste & Finish
The finish lingers with richness. The herbal lift remains as a soft echo after the sweetness fades. It stays controlled and balanced to the end.
ATC Verdict: Is It Worth the Splurge?
Yes, as a one-off.
This is a thoughtful and restrained pairing. The macadamia provides structure, the milk base leans slightly darker than expected, and the lemon myrtle acts as a quiet aromatic accent rather than a bold feature.
It is worth trying for curiosity, especially if native botanicals interest you, but it is not a bar you will chase down or insist friends must experience.
A considered idea, calmly executed. Interesting once, respected rather than craved.
Editor’s Note
Macadamia and lemon myrtle carries strong expectation. What stood out here was not intensity, but control. We appreciated the balance, even if it never quite crossed into craving. That distinction ultimately shaped where this bar sits for us.
